Harvey Response

Dear Friends in Christ,

As you are aware, the damage from Hurricane Harvey is widespread and ongoing. Our response as a church to this disaster is three-fold:

1. Pray for the people in the communities impacted by the storm.

2. Give to disaster recovery. Already you have given just under $4000 so thank you! You can give to disaster recovery beginning this Sunday in all of our worship services. If you give in worship, mark you payments for Disaster Relief. If you give online, select the "Benevolence" option. All monies donated in the "Benevolence" option will be directed to disaster relief. We are also receiving supplies for Health Kits and supplies for children.

3. We have made a connection with First United Methodist Church of Vidor, TX. Pastor John Mooney reports that 80% of the homes in Vidor were flooded including their church and parsonage. Please pray for him, his wife Sharon, and their two young children, Tony and Austin, and their community. We are planning on taking a mission team to Vidor on Wednesday, September 27 - 31 st . The team will depart from the church at 4 pm on the 27 th and arrive home the evening of the 31 st . At this time we plan to focus on debris removal from homes and home cleanout. If you are interested in being part of a work team, please call the church office at 228-863- 9619.
