The Wesley Foundation Campus ministry will have a community-wide Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4th, at 11 a.m. on the USM Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The egg hunt is for children age 12 and younger. From 8:30 am to about 9:30 am, we'll be hiding about 8,000 plastic eggs that are filled with candy and prizes. Janis Slade could use help from adults and youth. High school students who need community participation credit can have that time validated. The egg hunt is just one of the many fun activities you'll find that day at the USM Jazz Fest. If you would like to help in any way, please call Janis at 209-5268.
We will continue meeting at 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the library. We will be studying a book written by Liz Curtis Higgs titled "Bad Girls of the Bible". Please come join us!
Palm/Passion Sunday: March 29th @ 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sanctuary Worship - Procession of Palms and Passion Narrative. Join us for worship focused on the last week of Jesus' life. Beginning with a children's procession and congregational use of palms and continuing with a telling of the Passion narrative from Mark, the service will remind us through special music, prayer and proclamation of Christ's work of salvation. Our handbell choir will share and we will close with altar prayer time.
Maundy Thursday: April 2nd @ 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Interactive Prayer Pilgrimage. Commemoration of the Last Supper and Garden of Gethsemane. Gather family and friends Thursday evening for a time of activities and meditation as our entire church participates in an interactive Prayer Pilgrimage throughout the FUMC, Long Beach main campus. The prayer stations will be available between 6 and 8 pm and each will offer a different guided opportunity to pray together or individually. Groups of family or friends may move among the stations at their own pace and end the pilgrimage in the Sanctuary with celebrations of the Last Supper. This experience is designed for all ages and visitors as well as our church family.
Good Friday: April 3rd @ 7:00 p.m. A Service of Shadows. Commemoration of the Crucifixion. Our All-Church Service of Shadows or Tennebrae will be held Friday at 7 PM in the Sanctuary of the FUMC, Long Beach main campus. This service of hymns, choral and instrumental music, prayers and Scriptural readings on Jesus' crucifixion and death uses the interface of worship symbols and light for a powerful experience of Good Friday. While a more somber worship experience than most, it allows for contemplation on the suffering of our Lord that prepares us for the glorious celebration of the Resurrection on Easter. Childcare will be provided in the church nursery.
